The Erasmus Plus Project Developing Literacy for CLIL Contexts has been created in cooperation with the universities and schools from three countries: Poland, Slovenia and Spain. The main aim of the project was to develop a literacy-based approach to teaching literacy that is suitable for primary school children learning English around Europe, specifically for grades 3-5 (ages 8-11). Although the initial project initiative was linked to content and language integration contexts (CLIL), it was also adopted by many teachers and schools with more traditional EFL contexts. The project led to developing the literacy teaching approach, literacy teaching materials, and professional development tools such as MOOC and the MA course modules.

Repository

It was created to provide a platform where teachers, students, and teacher educators can find materials related to developing literacy in English language teaching. It includes two main parts: the literacy planning grid and 10 literacy units designed by the international teacher teams. The unit materials include lesson plans, videoed segments, assessment instruments, and participants’ commentaries.

MOOC

The MOOC entitled Teaching English through the Literacy Approach is an online course designed to acquaint teachers    with the literacy approach in teaching English as a foreign language. It can be used by teachers who work in a variety of language teaching contexts including EFL and CLIL. The MOOC consists of 3 modules and each module takes approximately 2 hours.
